National Championship “pre-registration” will start May 6th and end May 16th.
Many teams across the country have asked us to change to “Team Scoring” for the National Championships. While we do not want to make any changes without getting nearly 100% support, we have decided to add this award group so that coaches could get a better feel for “team Scoring”!
This year, we have added a new award called the “SCTP Team Award”!
The SCTP Team Award will be calculated by using that teams top 5 scores for Trap, top 5 scores for Skeet and top 5 scores for Sporting Clays. Also known as “Team Scoring”.
(This is the same method used for the High School Awards, College Awards, and the HOA Awards)
30 additional awards, 10 in each discipline!
This will include the Senior Division (JV & Varsity) 1st through 5th places with trophy and medals
As well as the Intermediate Division (Rookie, IE & IA) 1st through 5th places with trophy and medals
Ammunition will be available on site!
We look forward to seeing you all at this year’s National Championships in July!

The ACUI Collegiate National Championships concluded in San Antonio after a week long competition schedule encompassing both international and american clay target disciplines. The Winchester-sponsored SCTP International Team had quite a good showing, with 100 target competitions March 19th and 20th for International Skeet and Bunker Trap, respectively. Athletes Joshua Corbin and Emersyn Berck claimed two individual National Champion titles in International Skeet. The SCTP International Team Head Coach, Terri DeWitt noted quite a few other placements with both current and past Team members.
DeWitt asked the youth athletes what it feels like to be the respective 2022 ACUI International Skeet National Champion: “Pretty great. Feels like all my training paid off,” said Berck. Josh Corbin answered: “I feel grateful for all of the training and opportunities the SCTP has provided to prepare me for my collegiate career.”
DeWitt asked team member Emily Rasmussen how it felt to sweep the podium with past and present SCTP teammates: “Even though we are competitors, we are cheering each other on and it feels great when we all succeed and make the podium together,” replied Rasmussen.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF), offers a scholarship program to reward deserving, graduating seniors in the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) with needed college assistance. The main objective is to award as many scholarships as possible to qualifying SCTP / SASP graduating seniors.

Nine members of the 2021 SCTP International Team met for their first training camp during the weekend of November 13-14 at the Crossville Shooting Sports Park in Crossville, TN. Team members Jessica Gunderson, Abbey Wigh, Loretta Christian, Emersyn Berck, Emily Rasmussen, Emanuel Butdorf, Eyan Marx, Taylor Botshon, and Johnathon Savage were guided by International Team coachesTerri DeWitt and Brian Witty. This two-day camp focused on taking a deep dive into sports science, with emphasis on the importance of vision in clay target sports. With sponsors like Winchester Ammunition, training camps like this are available for SCTP International Team members, honing their game in preparation for large competitions and selections.
Sport Vision Coaches Dr. Carusone andMs. Kassie Kibler from EyeExcel in Knoxville, TN, gave instruction about the physiology of the eye, the mechanics of how vision works, how that relates to the shooting sports, and the importance of vison training to performance. Dr. Carusone evaluated each athlete on their vision strengths as well as identified areas of needed improvement. The athletes were guided through some practical exercises and then they spent the afternoon performing them. Each athlete went home with a better understanding of the importance of vision training as well as a personal vision training kit to continue their training at home.
“This was an exceptional weekend of learning for these athletes,” stated SCTP International Head Coach,Coach DeWitt. “We didn’t spend a lot of time pulling triggers, but rather used this weekend to hone an edge on their performance. I can’t thank Dr. C enough for sharing his time and expertise with us.”
SCTP (Scholastic Clay Target Program) College Nationals returned to its historic fall schedule at the Cardinal Shooting Center with the International Bunker and Skeet Disciplines kicking off the event on the 6th of October. These very challenging clay target sports continue to gain the attention of American competitors and coaches, with many Olympians at Tokyo having spent previous time as athletes or supporters of the SCTP.
Using the newly constructed international venue at the Cardinal Center, SCTP saw one of the newest teams to the SCTP College cadre, University of the Ozarks from Arkansas would take top honors in both of the International Divisions of Bunker Trap and International Skeet.
Top achievements:
• Lindenwood University shot a 989/1000, taking top tournament honors in the American Trap event
• Jacksonville University set a SCTP College Nationals record in Sporting Clays, shooting a 985/1000
• Emmanuel College took the top spot in the 5-Stand event, shooting a 474/500
Fort Hays State University was high team in the American Skeet category with a 986/1000. They started with only missing 1 target out of their first 500 (499/500) and would go on to be the tournaments High Over All team.

Networking and recruitment at Nationals:
Back by popular demand, high school athletes were invited to join the shoot, allowing them to compete in a separate high school competition. Intended as a useful opportunity for coaches interested in meeting the next class of shooters, the integration of networking is now a mainstay of College Nationals. Additionally, this gave rising athletes an opportunity to learn from college-level athletes and become familiar with college shooting programs throughout the nation.
Next up at the Cardinal Shooting Center: SCTP Olympic Training Camps and SCTP National Championships:
In addition to SCTP College Nationals, the Cardinal Shooting Center is also home to SCTP Olympic Training Camps, Spring Regional Championships, and July’s SCTP National Championship, the biggest shoot in Cardinal Center history. In the previous season’s event, over 2.2 million rounds were safely fired as teams of junior shooting sports athletes stepped to the line at their National Championships in an attempt to make it to the podium under the grandstand lights. The 2022 SCTP National Championship kicks off July 9th with the International Skeet and Trap events, followed by American disciplines, side games, and awards through the 16th.
The Winchester-sponsored SCTP International Team had four athletes qualify for the Junior World Championships in Lima, Peru: Jordan Sapp and Madeline Corbin (skeet); Tristan Schroder and Sydney Krieger (trap). SCTP athlete and alum of the team, Jordan Sapp won the silver medal in I-skeet. The Men’s Skeet Team of Sapp, Elijah Ellis, and Ben Keller claimed silver in the final against Italy.
International Team member Sydney Krieger stood alongside fellow SCTP athlete, Bethany High, and Faith Pendergrass in the Women’s Trap Team event, securing gold for the United States!

This year the College National Championships will make room for high school teams to shoot a 200 target Trap event, as well as be able to meet and talk to college coaches and athletes from across the country!Squading is now open for this event named “2021 High School Trap at College Nationals”.Teams can squad their high school aged athletes for the Saturday/Sunday rotation shooting 100 Trap targets each day. Trophies for the top finishing teams along with medals for male & female athletes.Information will be available from college coaches regarding their teams and schools!If you have any questions, please contact anyone at the SCTP National office. Welcome to your 2021/2022 SCTP College National Championships,October 6-10 at the Cardinal Center in Marengo, Ohio.
Shoot offs only for perfect scores and we will try and have them shoot an extra few boxes immediately after they complete that event. Reverse long run will determine individual ties, shoot offs for team ties will be conducted at the grandstands.
We have added an extra day on the front end of this tournament to include more time for the Intl. Disciplines of Bunker Trap and I-Skeet. This will help us determine interest for future events and including more Intl. discipline events at these shoots.
Cost of events are as follows:
Trap/Skeet = $95 per person for the 200 target events.
Sporting Clays = $120 per person for 200 target event.
Bunker Trap / I-Skeet = $100 per person for 100 target event.
5 Stand = $45 per person for 100 target event.
HOA will include 200 target Trap, 200 target Skeet and 200 target Sporting Clays.
As always, team scoring will be used for HOA and Team awards in these disciplines!
We cannot allow 200 targets to be shot in the same day, all 200 target events are shot over 2 days!
We are expecting the events to be shot in consecutive days, like a Thursday/Friday…..Friday/Saturday……Saturday/Sunday.
When teams register to shoot on Thursday or Friday for their first 100, they will shoot their 2nd 100 that next day at the same time and same location. Please only register your athletes 1 time for each event.
When registering for Trap on Saturday, they will shoot that 2nd 100 the next morning as we want to be done with most shooting by noon/1pm on Sunday. Please see attendant when registering your team for the Sunday morning time and location.
Wednesday – International Disciplines of Bunker Trap and I- Skeet
Thursday/Friday – Options available include Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, Intl. Disciplines & 5-stand
Friday/Saturday – Options available include Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, Intl. Disciplines & 5-stand
Saturday/Sunday – Options available include Trap only.
What an almost perfect schedule might look like is this:
Team comes in on Wednesday and compete in the Intl. Disciplines.
Thursday, they shoot 1st 100 of Skeet (and maybe a side event of 5-stand)
Friday, they shoot their 2nd 100 of Skeet and maybe their first 100 of Sporting Clays
Saturday, they shoot their 2nd 100 of Sporting Clays and their 1st 100 of Trap
Sunday morning, they shoot their 2nd 100 of Trap and all done!
Teams can add the side events of Bunker, I-Skeet or 5 stand any day (except Sunday) but need to allow time to do that……
Due to travel restrictions by many teams, awards may be picked up after the event is completed and all scores and shoot offs have been finalized. We strongly encourage teams to pick up their awards before departing to save shipping costs and transportation issues.
We are working on the availability of ammunition at this event. Please watch for upcoming messages regarding costs and brands!

Athletes competing in the 2021 CZ-USA Top Gun Challenge shot Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, Iron sight pistol (Rimfire or Centerfire), fastest rifle time, and 1911 with their scores from each event being compiled to calculate the winners. These incredible athletes took on the challenge of competing at the highest level across multiple disciplines as SCTP and SASP athletes.
Through the generous support of SCTP sponsors, Kolar and Elite Shotguns, nearly $50,000 was raised by teams selling raffle tickets for a Kolar Max Trap over-under shotgun. Utilizing their local networks, teams raised immediate cash funds and the top 5 ticket selling teams below received additional funds for their MidwayUSA Foundation endowment accounts!
